January, 2015.

Well, the holidays are behind us, and we hope that Santa was good to each and every one of you. I know that you really deserved all that you got.

January 1, 2015 rolled in a new year for many exciting events. New Years’ day had several rides, and we hope you were able to participate in one of them either in a car or on two wheels. However you get there does not matter as long as you participated and got to meet up with other members of the GWRRA family.

The Alabama District Traveling Plaque will be up for grabs on January 3rd.  All of the information is posted on the District website. Thanks to all of the chapters that have been participating with this.  It seems that everyone has been having a good time traveling to each destination.

January 10th will be our District Officers meeting. This is for our chapter officers and staff. Please encourage your Team to be at this event. We will be at the Gardendale Civic Center and will begin at 9am. Chapter financial reports and new officer paperwork will be done followed by any updates that we have. We will begin making plans for our 2015 Hallowing Rally in May.

Leadership Training is on the calendar for January and February.
The dates are on the district website, so plan to come and participate in these events. All classes will be held at UAB West Hospital.  This is the same location that we have been privileged to use for so many years.

Once again, thank you for supporting GWRRA; not only Alabama, but all of the districts in Region A.

Greetings fellow riders!  We hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday season and are looking forward to New Years Day. Several Chapters have rides on New Year’s Day, and we hope each of you have the opportunity to attend one close to you.
There are several events scheduled for January in addition to the traditional rides for many chapters. January 3rd will feature the District Plaque giveaway by Chapter M. Please check the district website for more info on this event. We encourage everyone to attend either on two, three, or four wheels. This time of year it doesn’t matter; just be there to count for your chapter. The next event scheduled is the Officers Conference scheduled for 10 January at the Gardendale Civic Center beginning at 9AM. Chapter Directors, please encourage all of your staff to attend.  We always have a good time at our conference. Remember that financials are due at this time along with any officer change paperwork. We look forward to seeing all of you there.
At the end of January and the beginning of February, we have Leadership Training Classes scheduled at the UAB MEDICAL WEST Hospital Training Room. Please check the district website for more information and sign up. We would definitely like to see all new chapter officers there along with any member who would like to attend. Remember, this training is for everyone, not just officers. Everyone will take something home with them from this training.
Finally, please remember all of our men and women in uniform and all of our first responders who serve and protect us each day as well as their families. They make our way of life possible. When you see one of them say thank you for all that they do for us. We look forward to seeing everyone out on the road this coming year,

Oh what a year we have had!  I know that we, like most of you have made some great memories again this year and there are many more great adventures out there for us too.  Aren’t we lucky to be part of the greatest motorcycle association in the world and a member of the greatest family in the world!?  You bet we are and we’re proud to be part of each of your lives as well and to have you as part of ours.
Do you ever think about how much your leadership does for you and the association?  Do you ever think about how much time it takes to put together and plan the activities you are offered?  Oh yeah, and what about the costs involved?  You know we are all volunteers and we do this because we love it and we love you guys too!  We hope that you will take more advantage of your leadership this year and also take advantage of all the FREE OFFERS from GWRRA to improve your lives and the lives of those in your chapters.  There is a lot of stuff available and we don’t want you to miss any of it!
We have more good news for you.  There are leadership classes planned this year that are stacking up to be better than ever.  We have the Chapter Leadership classes scheduled for January 7th , OCP on January 17th, Intermediate Leadership on the 21st, Advanced Leadership on the 28th and the Horizons Class on January 31st – February 1st, all in Bessemer AL at the UAB West Classroom.  Enroll now and participate in as many of these classes as possible and find out how much it will impact your life.  I guarantee you it will surprise you and you will be glad you did and while you are at it, thank your GW leadership for what they do and let them know you appreciate it.  That will mean a lot too!
We hope each of you have or had a great MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR and try to do something good for someone this year.  We are blessed to live in the greatest country in the world where we are free to do just about anything we choose and let’s all try to make that something good and fun.  Use those beautiful Gold Wing motorcycles and others to enrich your life and strengthen your GW family ties and relationships and make more memories of a lifetime!  You deserve it!
Remember that GWRRA} is a wonderful association and we want all “good folks” to be part of our great family.  Share your calendars and your experiences and feel free to call me or Kathy anytime if we can assist in some way with you.  We look forward to many more miles of riding pleasure with all of you and please be safe out there.  That’s the only way we can continue to make it fun.

Thanks and we love you all!

Hello to all my friends and family in the GWRRA ORG.

By the time you read this, 2014 Christmas will be behind us and New Year’s Day is happening.

I look forward to 2015 and finding creative ways to help you achieve you Rider Ed goals.

This has been a great year for Alabama Rider Ed program. We have improved the Rider Ed program by having more seminars at the chapter level, continuing to brink the Medic First Aid program and increasing the number of rider courses all while keeping the cost to all those Alabama GWRRA members free. We do this by raffling off cool stuff. This year again we are selling tickets to give 3 each of GARMIN’s 765 Zumo. The one most everyone would love to have.
Each ticket get you 3 chances to win one of these units. Please help us sell all the tickets or even purchasing a few for yourself. Remember that the winner doesn’t have to be present to win and they don’t have to be a member of GWRRA.

Safety first means that you have more fun when you ride because you ride with more confidence.

I hope everyone has, have, or had a Merry Christmas and will have A HAPPY NEW YEAR. I trust the New Year will be even better than the last.

The year 2014 brought with it a few changes, and 2015 will, I am sure, bring some more. Watch for emails later this month with some of the new changes for newsletters, COY, and CHOY and changes in judging rules as well.  As soon as I get the details, I will let you know. They will also be posted to the web site.

I hope to see  several newsletters entered for judging.  I need your newsletters by FEB. 1st. Send me three of your choice. These have to be the same ones passed out to members and posted on your web site.  I do not judge them. I get someone in another region to judge them.

I also hope to see more CHOY packets this year. Chapter of the year packets should be in by FEB.1st  also.  It takes a while to verify these, and I must have them done before March 1st.  Get them to me earlier if you can, but FEB. 1st will be the deadline.

I will make this short since I am late again. I have been real busy the last few days.
Be safe, and we will see you in the New Year.
